196. Esports Upfront Interview: Ideating on the future of Esports.

Here Stuart Lipson interviews me on my approach and contribution to the "Esports 2.0" think tank which is a collective of experts working to create a better system for Esports.

For some months I’ve been participating in an invite only group of Esports experts originally organised by Marcus Howard, who I’ve known for 12+ years. That’s how Stuart Lipson and I made contact. Stuart is documenting the process of building next generation Esports systems, and seems intent on accelerating that by organising round tables and such to facilitate dialogue.

Since I come from an elite sports background going back over 40 years, it’s always been my dream to extend competitive play to a wider audience, including people who aren’t physically capable of engaging in physical competitive sports. Thus I’ve been thinking on the subject for quite a while. 40 minutes is only enough time to give an idea of just how complicated a topic this is, and how much value can be generated if we do this right.
